FAQ’s

“What is a professional organiser?”

A professional organiser enhances peoples’ lives by

  • Designing systems and processes based on sound organising principles that are tailored to meet your individual needs.
  • Educating people about the costs of and reasons for clutter and disorganization and the benefits of getting and staying organized
  • Teaching people effective organizing skills, strategies and systems.

“Why should I hire a professional organiser?”

Hiring a professional organiser is no different than hiring any other professional when you need expertise and guidance to resolve a problem. A professional organiser gives you an objective and nonjudgmental perspective, someone with whom you can process your situation, learn new skills, and make progress toward your organising goals.

“But my family or friends said they’ll help me get organised? ”

Although relatives can play an important part in the organising process, they can often be too emotionally invested in you, your stuff or the situation. Awkward, emotional or frustrating situations can arise. By using an objective professional you will be able to meet your organising goals with the least stress and most efficiency.

“Do I have to be there or can you organise for me?”

When we organise you, your office or areas in your home it is a process and the end result has to make sense to you. Our systems are customised to your situation so it is important for you to be involved in the process. You will learn strategies and systems to maintain an organised space and you will be empowered to ensure an organised future.

“Do you help everyone get organised the same way?”

No. Organising is not “one size fits all.” Each person, family, and business has its own issues, goals, and priorities. We will work with your individual needs, customising our tools and systems to achieve your organising goals. We make sure the solution fits you, and the way you live or work.

“Are you going to make me throw everything away?”

One misconception about professional organisers is that we come in with a mini-skip and just start throwing everything out. As a professional organiser, I work with you by asking questions, making recommendations, and teaching you to make decisions that fit with your lifestyle and goals. While decluttering is part of the organising process, the decision as to what to keep, donate, throw away, or sell is ultimately yours.

“I’m so embarrassed – what if my situation is the worst you’ve ever seen?”

My job is not to judge you, but to help you understand how you arrived at where you are now and to develop new systems and habits that make you more comfortable and functional, enabling you to maintain the organisation.
